Facebook and Bing Scare Google !

It’s been a big week at Facebook. Hashtags rolled out to most users causing quite a stir in the marketing world. (It’s yet to be seen how much utility they actually bring to the everyday user.)
And, Graph Search finally got turned on for my account. Graph Search is the long-awaited jump by Facebook into the world of search engines powered by Microsoft’s Bing. The official announcement came several months ago but roll out has been slow.
The first thing I noted was that I had to relearn a bit of navigation as things aren’t where they were and don’t always do what they did. That’s a minor annoyance and not really what this post is about.
In playing around with Graph Search I noted some very useful internal search tricks that should pay off nicely for local businesses. All of a sudden there’s a Yelp like search function for nearby places that, say, my friends like. Obviously this has some utility. Here’s a Lifehacker article on some nice, clever uses for Graph Search
But, one thing that I did not fully appreciate, even though it was part of the story months ago, was the integration of Bing Web Search results.
Let’s say I type a search that’s not one of the obvious Graph Search categories, something random like, in the case of the image below – small business marketing system. The first option is to show web results from Bing.
As you can see from the image, these search results display right in the Facebook interface along with Bing Ads.

Windows 8 Whats new !

If you've spent any hands-on time with the Windows 8.1 Preview, you already have a good idea what to expect in this update, which is free to anyone running Windows 8. (If you missed it, you can catch up here: Hands-on with the Windows 8.1 preview.)

There were some important changes between the public Preview release and RTM. See What's changed in the Windows 8.1 RTM release? for details.) The public release adds only a few minor changes to the code that MSDN and TechNet subscribers and Volume License customers have had for months. But today's release kicks off a wave of updates on the back end, meaning you'll see changes in services and a wave of new apps designed for Windows 8.1.

Sony waterprof !!

Design: Like the Xperia Z, but Better
The Xperia Z1 is nearly identical to the Xperia Z — the front camera position (right instead of left) and aluminum frame being the biggest differentiators. The phone is elegant, beautiful even, but big. The Z1's 5-inch screen is nearly identical in size to Galaxy S4's screen, but the bezels around it are much bigger, and the difference is not negligible. If modern 4.x and 5-inch smartphones are too big for you, the Z1 is not for you.

And even if you do have hands that are big enough, the rectangular shape and slick surfaces of the Z1 will cause you a problem or two while handling the phone. It's just not that easy to hold, and I had to be extra careful not to drop it on more than one occasion.

That said, if you don't mind the size, the black variant of the phone looks great. When the screen is off, it's like a shiny, black block of granite. We prefer its design to the Galaxy line of products, while the HTC One and iPhone 5S still remain, in our eyes, slightly more appealing devices.

Hardware: Fast and Powerful
We'll keep this section short: The Z1's 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor, coupled with Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM make the device faster than most high-end smartphones. Its Geekbench 3 score was 2,712, far ahead its main competitors, the HTC One and the Galaxy S4. In day-to-day usage, the phone feels and operates extremely fast, period.
